Obstructive Sleep Apnea affects over 40 million people. An alarming fact is that three out of every 10 adult patients we see are at high risk for sleep apnea.
Dentists are commonly the first line of defense in screening this deadly disorder. I have had several patients over the last month who have been experiencing high blood pressure readings and over all fatigue. These are big signs of undetected heart disease &/or sleep Apnea.
Although we tease our significant others about snoring it is no laughing matter. Sleep apnea can increase your heart attack and stroke incidence by over 50%. All snoring is not due to apnea so it is important to seek the proper physician for testing. Getting air in and out of your airway and stifle brain and subsequent heart pumping.
