Anne Culbert Running the MCM for RunningBrooke
- Posted on: Nov 4 2016
We are super proud of our own Anne Culbert for not only running the Marine Corps Marathon, but her heart for helping RunningBrooke – to raise funds for programs serving the children in her community.
Her goal? $1,000. Result? $1,261!
Anne has been back running for almost 5 years after taking a 16 year hiatus. During this time she’s enjoyed the benefits of exercise…fitness, goals achieved & camaraderie. After encouragement from a few friends late last fall, she decided to try the next logical step…a marathon. One familiar to her, as a cheerleader to her friends and a volunteer for many years – the Marine Corps Marathon.
When it came time to enter the lottery for bibs this past spring, she was approached by local RunningBrooke to be part of their MCM team. Having always been impressed with RunningBrooke’s goals & service to at-risk children in her community, joining their efforts was a perfect compliment to her years of work with local non-profit The Campagna Center.
Studies prove that physical activity fuels learning for school success and it gets kids healthier too! More & more we see studies showing the benefits of exercise for good brain health and the importance of exercise as we age. It’s never too late or early to encourage healthy habits & lifestyles. What better time to start than when young! That’s why she chose to run with RunningBrooke & help raise funds for programs serving the children in my community.
