Breast Cancer and Periodontal Disease: Is There a Connection?

between breast cancer after menopause and periodontal disease.
There are no large studies showing the link between periodontal disease a
nd breast cancer. However, microorganisms found in the mouth have been found in breast tumors. (1) According to one author, a vast body of evidence has found that associations among certain bacteria and cancers exist. (2) Infections involving viruses, bacteria, schistosomes (parasitic worms), and viruses have been linked to higher risks of malignant changes.
